About O×O

O×O is a free strategy game for the browser and Android, a fresh take on the classic ring-stacking board game. It keeps the one-minute learning curve of tic-tac-toe while adding three ring sizes and three distinct ways to win.

What the game is

O×O is played on a 3×3 board where every cell can hold three nested rings — large, medium, and small. Each player owns a set of rings in their colour and races to be first to make an "O×O": three same-size rings in a line, all three of their sizes stacked in one cell, or a graduated small-medium-large line along a row, column, or diagonal. The stacking mechanic means the same square can be contested by several players at once, which makes the game far deeper than its tiny board suggests. If you are new, the how-to-play guide walks through every rule.

Ways to play

Local play

Pass-and-play on a single device for two, three, or four players. The two-player mode uses a dual-colour setup, where each side controls two opposite colours. It is the quickest way to learn the game with a friend.

Online ranked play

Create or join a room and play live against opponents in real time. Online games are rated: your result adjusts your rating, which places you into skill tiers and onto a global leaderboard. Matches include a per-turn timer, in-game chat, spectating, resign and draw options, and automatic handling of disconnects and timeouts, so games always reach a clean result.

Ratings and tiers

Every ranked player has a numeric rating that moves up or down with each game. Ratings map to tiers — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond — so you can see your progress and find players near your level. A searchable leaderboard lets you look up other players and track where you stand.

Languages

O×O is fully available in English and Arabic, including a right-to-left layout for Arabic. You can switch languages at any time from the toolbar, and your preference is saved to your profile so it follows you across devices.

Platforms and price

O×O is free to play. It runs in any modern web browser at o-and-o-game.web.app and is also built as a native Android app. There is an optional premium upgrade that removes ads and lifts daily limits on ranked and private games, but the full game is playable for free.

O×O is an independent, fan-made ring-stacking game. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any other game publisher; all rules content here is our own description of how to play this style of game.
